Prenatal & Postpartum Support Physical Therapy Largo
Hands-On Care for Every Stage of Motherhood
Pregnancy changes your body in ways that build up gradually and hit hardest when you least expect it, low back pain by the second trimester, pelvic pressure in the third, and a postpartum recovery that takes far longer than anyone tells you. At Concierge Physical Therapy in Largo, we provide one-on-one manual therapy specifically for the demands pregnancy places on your body, from the first trimester through the months after delivery.
What We Treat?
Manual physical therapy addresses the root cause of pain and dysfunction, not just the symptoms. During pregnancy and postpartum recovery, that includes:
Low back and pelvic pain (sacroiliac joint, pubic symphysis)
Pelvic floor weakness or tightness
Abdominal separation (diastasis recti)
Sciatica and radiating leg pain
Hip pain and hip flexor tightness
Tailbone pain (coccydynia)
Urinary leakage or urgency
C-section scar tissue and abdominal tightness
Discomfort during intercourse (postpartum)
Neck and shoulder pain from nursing and carrying
Why Manual Therapy Works for Pregnancy
Most prenatal and postpartum care focuses on exercise and advice. Manual therapy is different, it's hands-on treatment directed at the joints, muscles, and connective tissue that are under the most stress. Every session at Concierge PT is one-on-one, which means your entire appointment is treatment time, not waiting or doing exercises in a shared gym.
With 35+ years of experience in manual physical therapy, Dr. Eran Kabakov works directly with each patient to identify what's driving the pain and address it efficiently. Most patients see meaningful improvement in three visits or less.
Prenatal vs. Postpartum - What's Different
During pregnancy, treatment focuses on relieving pain as your center of gravity shifts, your joints loosen (thanks to relaxin), and your pelvic floor takes on increasing load. We work within safe positional guidelines for each trimester and adjust as your pregnancy progresses.
After delivery, the priority shifts to restoring function, assessing the pelvic floor, addressing diastasis recti, releasing tension from compensatory movement patterns, and helping you return to normal activity without pain. Whether you delivered vaginally or by C-section, timing and approach are tailored accordingly.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your first appointment is a New Mother Evaluation. We take a full history, assess posture, movement, pelvic floor function, and any specific complaints, then begin treatment in the same session. You leave with a clear picture of what's happening and a realistic plan for how long it will take to fix. No referral required.

Frequently Asked Questions About Prenatal & Postpartum Physical Therapy
Is physical therapy safe during pregnancy?
Yes. Manual physical therapy is safe throughout all three trimesters when performed by a therapist experienced in prenatal care. We adapt positioning and techniques based on your trimester and comfort. Physical therapy during pregnancy is not only safe it's often one of the most effective ways to manage the musculoskeletal pain that comes with the physical changes of pregnancy.
What pregnancy-related pain can physical therapy treat?
We commonly treat low back pain, SI joint pain, pelvic girdle pain, sciatica, round ligament pain, rib pain, hip pain, and pubic symphysis dysfunction during pregnancy. Postpartum, we also address diastasis recti (abdominal separation), tailbone pain from delivery, and the general deconditioning that comes with new parenthood. Most of these conditions respond very well to manual therapy.
How soon after delivery can I start postpartum physical therapy?
For most patients, we recommend waiting until after your 6-week postpartum clearance from your OB or midwife before starting hands-on treatment. That said, if you're dealing with significant pain before that point, reach out — we can advise you on what's appropriate for your specific situation.
What is diastasis recti and can PT fix it?
Diastasis recti is the separation of the rectus abdominis (the "six-pack" muscles) that commonly occurs during pregnancy as the uterus expands. It can cause a visible gap or bulge in the midline of the abdomen, low back pain, and core weakness postpartum. Physical therapy — specifically targeted core rehabilitation — is the primary treatment for diastasis recti. Most patients see significant improvement with a focused program.
Do I need a referral to see a physical therapist during or after pregnancy in Florida?
